How the new youth will be benefited with the new academic structure
This pandemic has affected the entire world with uncertainty. People are highly restricted to stay at home and work, many of them have even lost their jobs. Normally the month of March and April are the times when people search for other opportunities and switch to work in a new firm. Since the entire rule of lockdown got implemented, many companies declared a hiring freeze.
This sudden decision made by the organizations led to many of the working class become unemployed. In such unfortunate circumstances, several businesses had a highly unexpected boost. In this article, I will be sharing with you 10 such businesses where one can invest and gain significant revenue during COVID-19.
This third education policy initiated by the Indian government is one of the best steps taken to raise Indian education standards.
For almost 3 decades, we were having a 10+2 culture. Nevertheless, after 34 long years, the government unveiled the new National Education Policy (NEP) and brought in several reforms. One of the best reforms I have seen so far is replacing the 10+2 structure of the academic curriculum of a child with a 5+3+3+4 structure relating to age groups 3-8, 8-11, 11-14, and 14-18 years.
The first 5 years are the Foundational years for the children:
This will have 3 years of pre-school and 2 years of primary education, that includes class 1 and 2. So this foundational period is for the age group from 3-8.
The next 3 years are the Preparatory stage for class 3-4:
This period covers the academic education from class 3-5. It will highly focus on experimental learning. A practical approach to every concept that was lacking since the past decades will be covered this time. This stage will cover the age group from 8-11.
The next 3 years is for the Secondary Stage:
This stage will cover class 6-8 which consists of the age group from 11-14.
The final 4 years of the Higher Secondary stage:
This stage will cover classes 9-12 that will be in two phases. The first phase will be from class 9-10 and the second from class 11-12.
The new educational curriculum came up with a lot of benefits that I will be discussing in this article.
Like I mentioned, this new academic structure will focus on the importance of practical knowledge instead of just focusing on theoretical learning.
It will help students to develop scientific temper from a young age.
New institutions will be set up to match up to the new quality of higher education that will be considered to be at par with the global standards.
This new structure will make it easier for foreign institutions to set up their campuses in India and give opportunities to our students who are unable to go abroad due to multiple reasons. This initiative will help the students to gain experience and get global exposure. They will be allowed to set up campuses abiding with the new regulations brought in by the current norms.
Also, every Indian institution will have to promote the admissions of foreign students so that they can pursue courses in India too.
In 10 years, there will be one large multidisciplinary institute in every district with an enrolment of a minimum of 300 students. This initiative aims to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio in higher education.
Focus on all aspects of talent which include Music, arts, and literature is aimed to be taught in all institutions. Several departments will be introduced in the higher education colleges that includes: Literature, Music, Philosophy, Indology, Art, Dance, Theatre, Education, Mathematics, Statistics, languages, Pure and Applied Sciences, Sociology, Economics, Sports, Translation, and Interpretation
The importance of vocational Skills will be given where every student will be taught a vocational skill of his/ her choice.
The need of the hour which is coding and getting accustomed to the digital era, every student will also be taught coding from Class VI. This move will make the students be on par with the Chinese counterparts where a similar curriculum is followed which makes them more intelligent at an early age.
There will be no strong bifurcation between Arts and Science Curriculum and all subjects like Music will be taught.
Students from class VI will have Internship programs where they will have to undergo 10 days internship with local trades or crafts. This is one of the best decisions taken where students will be trained to use various tools at an early age.
Every research firm looks out for an ideal candidate who will be able to carry out intense quality research for their organization on several projects, for inculcating this quality among students, a 4-year course may also lead to a degree ‘with Research’ for which a student must complete an extensive research project within a deadline and prove their worth.
Earlier a candidate had to give several entrance exams that had varied syllabus but from now there will be a single common entrance exam for admission to all higher education institutes. This exam will be held by NTA that will be optional and not mandatory.
In this digital era, it is very much necessary to ramp Up Digital Learning at an early age. Before computer classes were optional in many schools and it came up with an additional fee. Now it has become necessary to ramp up Digital Learning. A National Education Technology Forum NETF will be created for this purpose, and e-courses will be uploaded in 8 regional languages.
Today everything has become so expensive. Many of the parents are unable to give their children a quality education because of monetary restrictions. The New policy suggests an upper cap on the fee charged by private institutions. It will enable every student to gain high-quality knowledge from a reputed institute of India. Every student can afford to get admission to premium institutes, and everything will be based on merit.
These were some of the many benefits that a student will gain with the change in the academic curriculum. Everyone will now get equal opportunities, will have a great exposure to the practical implications of every theory, and will excel in all aspects of academic education. Although this new structure brings in minor loopholes are still the entire initiative was highly necessary and will be revolutionary once implemented. The only hope remains is that this new policy gets implemented, and many students can take advantage of it. I hope you liked the article.
